The flow for improvement with monitoring the green engagement showcases different levels. All hotels are already at a level one since 2015; however, their flow will begin slightly differently for newly acquired or managed hotels. Each class is categorized as actual initiatives being completed and secondly based on results.
Level 1 hotels have completed ten best practice solutions that set them up for success and support them through activities that provide immediate energy and cost savings. This includes tracking consumption data, setting up a property green team, and installing energy-efficient lighting in guest rooms.
Level 2 hotels have begun to see the benefits of sustainability on the property. They have taken steps to go above and beyond the basics and implement solutions such as sustainable purchasing and ingraining sustainability into the hotel operations.
Level 3 hotels have mastered the foundations of sustainability and are embarking on large projects, such as installing energy-efficient appliances and sustainable site management.
Level 4 hotels are leading hotels in the environmental sustainability area. They demonstrate leading and innovative approaches to being sustainable.
The reporting within IHG Green Engage provides the ability to create a property-specific action plan list depending on what makes sense for each property to implement and allows each hotel to cater their reporting to their specific property needs depending on energy sources, etc.
